Liquid lipstick collection

My entire liquid lipstick collection minus the Jouer Liquid Lipstick (I forgot it at work).

My entire liquid lipstick collection minus the Jouer Liquid Lipstick (I forgot it at work).

I have a confession to make. I have a serious liquid lipstick addiction. It's getting completely out of hand to be honest. I have always liked playing around with different lipstick colors, I think it can completely change a look and it's one of my favorite "accessories". A few months ago, Emilie (the other half of this blog) actually got me my first liquid lipstick, Jouer liquid lipstick in Noisette, after seeing Allana Davison (allanaramaa on Youtube) wearing it. From that point on, my liquid lipstick collection grew rapidly to become the ridiculously extensive collection it is today. I'm gonna go through my collection and share my thoughts on all the different liquid lipsticks I own today (they are all matte too). This is going to be quite a long post, so I suggest you make yourself a hot cup of tea (or coffee or whatever beverage you prefer), get yourself some snacks and snuggle up on the couch. Let's get in to it!

First of all, let's talk about the liquid lipstick that started it all, Jouer liquid lipstick in Noisette. Like I already told you in our Welcome Post, Emilie and I bonded over a shared love of makeup and Youtube. We introduced each other to new makeup-gurus on Youtube and Emilie introduced me to Allana Davison (you should really check her out on Youtube!). Allana started wearing this brown liquid lipstick from Jouer and we both completely fell in love with it and that's why, for my 23th birthday, Emilie surprised me with that lipstick (which really isn't that easy to get here). So not only do I like this lipstick for the lipstick itself, but I also love the sentiment that is now attached to it!
I absolutely love the color and the smell of this one. It's smells like some kind of chocolatey goodness (praline maybe). However, the smell is pretty strong, so if you don't like it when your lipsticks have a strong smell, this might not be for you. It applies very easily and has pretty good staying power (you will have to reapply it once or twice throughout the day, so not amazing, but not bad either).

A big part of my collection are NYX liquid lipsticks, for the simple reason that they are pretty cheap yet they are great quality. Another reason for this is that a few months ago, the first NYX store opened in Belgium, and it happened to open in Ghent, where we go to university, which means that it is waaaaaaaay too accessible for me.
Let's start with the NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks.

From left to right: Honeymoon (01), Embellishment (02), Lace Detail (03), Ruffle Trim (04), Push-up Effect (06), Satin Ribbon (07), Bedtime Flirt (08), Corset (09) and Baby Doll (11)

I have almost the entire collection of these with the exception of Exotic (12), since that's always sold out (I purchased Beauty Mark (05) and Teddy (10) the day after we took this picture, that's why they are not shown here). The reason I have all of these is that, first of all, I absolutely love the packaging of these liquid lipsticks. It has an expensive look to it, and I actually have them on display on my vanity. Secondly, I love the weartime on these babies. They last a long time on the lips, they don't peel off but slowly fade over the course of the day. The only thing that makes them just disappear off of your lips are oily substances (I actually have to use an oil-based make-up remover to get all of the lipstick off of my lips at the end of the day). And last but not least, I'm a big fan of the colour selection. You got a great variation of nudes, going from really subtle nude tints to darker, richer colors and you even get a few statement colors in there like Honeymoon (01), Embellishment (03), Beauty Mark (05) and Teddy (10). The only thing I don't particularly like about these is the way they apply. They are quite sticky and they do take a while to dry completely. But honestly, I can easily look past that.
The shades I reach for the most are Bedtime Flirt (08), Lace Detail (03) and Baby Doll (11).
Next, we have the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams.

From left to right: Amsterdam (01), London (04), Istanbul (06), Buenos Aires (12), Sydney (13), Athens (15), Cannes (19), Copenhagen (20), Transylvania (21), Madrid (27) and Rome (32)

As you can see, I have quite a lot of these as well. I love these ones when it comes to the nude colors, but I'm not really a fan of the darker colors. The darker shades, like Copenhagen (20), Transylvania (21), Madrid (27) and even Rome (32), tend to be quite patchy and you need to apply a few layers of these colors to get a nice and even lipstick.
What I do really like about these, is that they don't dry out your lips at all! The Lip Lingeries can be a little bit drying but the Soft Matte Lip Creams are really smooth and creamy. For this reason, they don't last as long as the Lip Lingeries though. When you eat or drink anything, you will probably need to reapply these.
Even though these Soft Matt Lip Creams do have a few little failings, I still think you really get a great bang for your buck. However if you want a dark liquid lipstick, I would advice you to go for the NYX Lip Lingerie collection or the NYX Liquid Suede collection, which I'm gonna talk about next.
Oh and I almost forgot, the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams smell absolutely delicious. They have a sweet vanilla scent, but it's not overpowering at all (so if you don't like your lipsticks to have a scent, this really shouldn't stop you from trying these liquid lipsticks).
And last but not at all least, we have the NYX Liquid Suede Collection.

From top to bottom: Brooklyn Thorn (21), Subversive Socialite (19), Vintage (12), Tea & Cookies (09), Sandstorm (07) and Cherry Skies (03).

I don't have nearly as many of these as I do the two other NYX liquid lipstick collections and I don't really know why, since these are great.
They apply very easily. The formula is more liquid than the other two liquid lipsticks, yet it's just as durable as the Lip Lingeries. It does take a little longer to dry because of this, but nothing too crazy (like the NYC lipstick, I'll be talking about later). They have a great color selection in this collection as well. They even have a few really crazy colors, like blue, orange and black. And they have some beautiful reds, browns and dark purples.
If I would have to come up with a negative for these ones, it's the smell. They do smell very chemically. However, the scent completely disappears when they dry and you can't taste any of it So overall, these are just absolutely amazing.
My favorites are Sandstorm (07), Vintage (12) since this is the most beautiful dark red I have ever seen and Brooklyn Thorn (21) which is a brown with a grey undertone.
I think it's pretty obvious that I like the NYX liquid lipsticks a lot ;)!
I do have a few other liquid lipsticks that aren't from NYX though.

I own five OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks.

From top to bottom: Bel Air, Dubai, Surfers Paradise, Palm Beach and Santa Monica

I received these ones in a goodie box that I won online (thank you Allana!). I'm a big fan of the formula of these, they last a long time, they don't dry out your lips and they apply very evenly. However, there are only two I use on a regular basis, namely Dubai and Belair, just because the other colors I got send aren't really my style (they are Palm Beach, Santa Monica and Surfers Paradise).
I do plan on buying a few other colors, as soon as my bank account allows me to do so, since I truly enjoy using these liquid lipsticks.

Then, there are the liquid lipsticks, I'm not that fond of.
We'll start with the absolute worst one, the NYC Matte Expert Last Lip Lacquer.

NYC Expert Last Matte Lip Lacquer. This was after I let it dry for 15 minutes.

I absolutely hate this one. There's just nothing good about it. First of all, it takes ages for it to dry completely and it doesn't dry all that matt to be honest. Then, there's the wearability. Since it stays wet for so long, half of it is gone before it's even dry.
The only thing I do like about this one is the scent. It smells kind of sweet, but nothing too crazy. However the scent fades really quickly and what you're left with is a slight chemical smell (and taste).
But to be honest, I don't think I'll use this one ever again and I'm probably gonna throw it out next time I clean out my makeup baskets.

And finally, there's the Violet Voss Liquid Lipstick.

I'm kind of indifferent to this one. I don't particularly hate it, but I don't particularly like it either. I bought this on a whim one day and it's fine but nothing special. The formula goes on smoothly, and it's a pretty color. But it's kind of drying on the lips and it doesn't last as long as I would like it too.
I just think that for the price there are better liquid lipsticks out there, and I wouldn't repurchase this one if I had the choice.

Sorry this post was so very very long. I do hope you liked reading about all the different liquid lipsticks I currently own. Full reviews, with lipswatches and wear-tests, on (almost) all of these will be coming to the blog soon, so keep an eye out for that.

I'll talk to you soon,
Nakiska

EDIT: Since writing this post, I have actually completed my Lip Lingerie collection. Yeeeeeeeeeeej ;)!
